• 5 FAQ’s about Wedding Dance Lessons

Are you ready for your First Dance?

Here are the 5 most Frequently Asked Questions regarding your First Dance…

    1. Is it too late to start?

It’s never too late to start! Even if it’s Monday and your wedding is on Saturday, we can get you and your honey feeling comfortable with dancing with each other. You won’t be doing any stunts off the chandeliers, but you’ll be 100% better off than not starting at all. Remember the infamous “high school” where you awkwardly hold each other and sway back and forth for 5 minutes?!? Yeah, that’s not happening on our watch!

    2. Should we wait till the Wedding date is closer?

The longer you wait…the less time you have to practice! Whether you continue lessons up till the Wedding or not, you’re doing your First Dance a disservice by not giving yourselves the possibility of more practice time. If you’re reading this, it’s time to start!

    3. Do we have to have our song picked out?

Nope! It does help, sure, but not necessary. We can teach you to DANCE, together, as a couple. Once you choose your song, we will show you which dance specifically goes with it, but you’ll be miles ahead of the game because you’ll already know how to dance, together, as a couple.

    4. What if we’ve never danced before?

We know that no previous dance experience also means no bad habits! We get a blank slate to work with and can mold the two of you into the First Dance of your dreams. We’ve never met anyone we haven’t been able to teach.

    5. How many lessons will it take?

This is my favorite question, because there is no right answer that we can give. Two things need to happen first: 1. We need to know what “kind” of dance you want. 2. We need to teach you a lesson. After these two things we can make a recommendation. Everything we do is personalized to the couple in front of us. No cookie cutter First Dances here! If you want a dance where you’re swinging from the chandeliers and includes costume changes, well that will take a little longer than a more traditional approach. We create the dance that fits what your vision is, in the amount of time you give us to do it, and we can guarantee that you’ll feel comfortable on your Wedding Day.

  • The Power of the Dance Leader

    If only more men knew…

You know, if more men knew the “power” they had on a dance floor, the shortage of leaders would be nonexistent! As a follower, the Leader controls where you’re going, how you get there, how fast you get there, what you’re doing on you’re way there, and how you look getting there. If only more men knew…

On a dance floor, the leader can do no wrong. Men, please note that this applies only to the dance floor. I had a student realize recently, (insert Scottish accent here) “It’s not whether I did the right thing or not, it’s whether it was intentional,” and that is absolutely correct. The Follower’s job is to go wherever the Leader asks them to go. For the Leader, maybe you lead exactly what you wanted, or maybe your body took over and you ended up doing something completely different than what you had initially intended, it doesn’t matter! She has to go with you! As a Follower, it doesn’t matter if you “know the pattern” they are trying to dance, it’s whether you respond to the direction given. As the Leader of a dance relationship, you are the ultimate navigator, explorer, and captain. Your Follower is your ship. There to help you discover new worlds of movement and for you to steer into new horizons of dance floor. If only more men knew…

Typically when you watch a couple dance, you notice what the lady is doing, but do you know who is creating the movement? The Leader. Do you know who is deciding where they go next on the floor? The Leader. Do you know who is holding her in such a way that she is able to become the most desirable partner on the dance floor? The Leader. Most of us when we look at a painting, we notice the picture. The colors, the lines, the symbolism, but what if there was nothing holding the painting in place? Without the Frame, the picture would just be a rolled up piece of art. Crumbled up and tossed into a corner. Who is the Frame? The Leader. If only more men knew…

Gentlemen, it is time for you to take command of the floor . Any floor can be a dance floor. You are in charge on the dance floor. You call the shots on the dance floor. YOU can make every woman happy on the dance floor. Gentlemen, you can do no wrong on the dance floor.
